Sew-on Label Instructions:
Optional Iron-On Interfacing: Cotton sew-on labels come with an iron-on interfacing. Labels can be ironed into place prior to sewing instead of pinning for a crisp and clean application. Follow the iron-on instructions for proper application.
Sewing the Label: Secure the label by sewing around the edges. Use a needle and thread that match the fabric and label for a seamless finish. Ensure the stitches are tight and even to prevent fraying.
Machine Sewing: If using a sewing machine, match the bobbin thread to the garment and the top thread to the label to blend the label on both sides.
Flat Labels: Flat labels should be sewn on all sides but can be sewn on two opposite sides along the longest dimensions. For items with heavy wear, you can use a zig-zag stitch to cover the edge of the label completely for a sturdy application.
Folded Labels: Folded labels can be sewn along the combined free edges. Stitching should extend a stitch or two beyond the sewn edge for a sturdier application, or the label can be sewn in along the seam during construction.
Storage: Make sure the unused labels are kept away from the heat of the iron, and in a cool, dark, and dry environment to prolong their shelf life. Adhesive is best used within one year from purchase.
Gentle Care: Labels appreciate gentle detergents, free of harsh chemicals and stain removers, as well as low temperatures for both wash and dry. For color maintenance, try ¼-½ cup of white vinegar during wash and/or rinse.
