For successful iron-on application:
Moisture is a big reason that the adhesive will fail. Many common irons will disperse steam even when the steam setting is off. Fully empty the water cavity before hand if you are having trouble.
Heat times can vary. It is best to be a bit intuitive.... while it seems reasonable to apply more heat for longer if the labels are not adhering, the opposite is actually true: too much heat time can start to break down the adhesive, or transfer fully from the label to the garment. Only use enough heat and pressure to activate the adhesive.
Setting time is very important. Make sure all labels have ample horizontal time to fully cool and set. Too much movement while warm can disrupt the adhesive seal. Additionally do not wash for 24 hours after application.
Make sure the unused labels are kept away from the heat of the iron, and in a cool, dark, and dry environment to prolong their shelf life. Adhesive is best used within one year from purchase.
Lastly, labels appreciate gentle detergents, free of harsh chemicals and stain removers; as well as low temperatures for both wash and dry. For color maintenance, try ¼-½ cup of white vinegar during wash and/or rinse.
